ADNU Hosts ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation Inc.
4th Faculty Capability-Building Program
Ateneo de Naga University recently hosted and co-implemented the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.s 4th Faculty Capability- Building Program - Regional Seminar from May 19 to 30, 2008 at the Madrigal Center for Entrepreneurship (MCSE) Amphitheater. The whole idea of this seminar started when Dr. Eduardo Morato Jr., President of ABS CBN Bayan Foundation Inc. and former Dean of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), visited Ateneo de Naga University and met with Fr. Joel E. Tabora, SJ, University President last March 11, 2008. Dr. Morato tapped ADNU as co-implementer of the then forthcoming 4th Faculty Capability-Building Program. This program was created to enable the faculty members of the different business schools in the region to teach Entrepreneurship and Management in a different light and help students become effective entrepreneurs in the future.
The ten (10) day seminar had two (2) modules. Module 1 was about Learning Methodologies and Material Development. This was presented by Professor Cecilia B. Manikan, an AIM Professor and MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Administrator, and Dr. Milagros Du Lagrosa, Program Director of the AIM Education Management Program. These speakers discussed concepts on the Whole Brain Learning System and Self-Mastery as well as Analytical, Logical, and Critical Thinking.
Module 2 was about Teaching Entrepreneurship Management. Sub-topics discussed were Entrepreneurship and the Process of Entrepreneuring, Enterprise Financial Management and Enterprise Strategizing, and Strategic Planning and Assessment. The speakers for the second module were Dr. Eduardo A Morato Jr, President of ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation Inc., Professor Raul IE Manikan, Executive Director of ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation, Inc., and Mr. Levi P. Verora, Area and Industry Development for Entrepreneurship (AIDE) Director of ABS CBN Bayan Foundation, Inc.
The highlights of the 10-day seminar were the topics on the Whole Brain Learning System and Self Mastery (MBTI approach) and Teaching Entrepreneurship Management. Said topics encouraged educators towards making a paradigm shift from the traditional emphasis on the IQ (Intelligence Quotient) of entrepreneurship students to the tapping of their EQ (Emotional Quotient), AQ (Adversity Quotient) and SQ (Spiritual Quotient).
Faculty and administrators from different schools, government offices, and the private sector came in tow to attend this seminar, which was given for free. Among those represented were: the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Company, Metro Naga Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce, Camarines Sur State Agricultural College , Camarines Sur Polytechnic College , Naga College Foundation, Bicol University , University of Saint Anthony , Divine Word College of Legazpi, Sorsogon State College, Osmena Colleges , and St. Peter Baptist College Foundation, Inc.
