AdNU's College of Nursing Holds 3rd Capping Ceremony
The College of Nursing (CoN) of Ateneo de Naga University held its 3rd Capping, Pinning and Candle – Lighting Ceremony last July 28, 2008 with the theme “Ignatian Nurses: For Greater Excellence in Service... For God's Greater Glory”.
A Eucharistic Celebration at the Christ the King University Church , which began at 2 p.m. with Fr. Joel Tabora , S.J., University President as Main Celebrant, opened the ceremony. Lamps, candles, caps, pins and busts were offered during the Symbolic Offertory Processional in a fitting expression of returning to the Lord all the gifts He had bestowed on the would-be nurses.
The Imposition of Caps & Pins and the Candle – Lighting Ceremony followed at the Fr. Pedro Arrupe, S.J. Convention Center . It began with the Processional of the Candidates, Guests, Faculty, and Administrators. This was followed by the Nurse's Prayer led by Ms. Angelina Hermida, Clinical Instructor of the CoN and the Philippine National Anthem by the AdNU Choir. AdNU's Academic Vice-President Dr. Rebecca Torres then delivered the Welcome Address.
The Entrance of Florence Nightingale and the Lighting of the Nightingale Lamp followed after which the candidates were presented to the public. Caps and pins were them placed on them by Fr. Joel Tabora , S.J. assisted by Dr. Ma.Teresa de Alban from CHED, Dean Ma. Clara Rubino, and Ms. Amelia Enriquez, Chief Nurse of the Bicol Medical Center.
A highlight of the event was the Special Message of Dr. Ma. Teresa de Alban, the Guest Speaker. A recital of the Florence Nightingale's Pledge led by Ms. Claire de Jesus and the singing of their batch song by the newly-capped students brought the event to a close.
The Master of Ceremonies was Mr. Dennis Locsin. One hundred and seventy eight (178) nursing students happily received their coveted caps.
