ACLC Sponsors One-day Conference on its 8th Year Anniversary

On its 8th anniversary year, the Ateneo Child Learning Center sponsored a one-day conference with the theme: Integrating Music and Movements in the Early Grades. The seminar- workshop was held at the Instructional Media Center from nine in the morning until five in the afternoon. It was attended by 87 teachers in the early grades from various schools in the Region.

Prof. Yankie Estrella, Chair of the Department of Family Life and Child Development of the University of the Philippines was the invited resource speaker. At the seminar, she demonstrated how to use music and movement activities in the classroom to enhance early learning. The teacher participants learn to understand the ways in which movement affects brain development, children's natural responsiveness to music and considered the body as the primary learning.

At the conclusion of a one-day seminar-workshop, the participants presented their variety of their own musical learning activities apt to their school children.

The seminar was also conceived by the College of Education to reinforce class discussions and to get update on the content and methodology for its students.
