The Board for Professional Teachers released the official results of the 2008 September Licensure Examination for Teachers last November 16, 2008. Out of 58,471 examinees for elementary teaching, only 17,816 (30.469%) passed. There were 18,801 (35.343%) who passed for secondary teaching out of the 53,195 examinees.
The College of Education obtained an outstanding performance in said Licensure Examination. Not only did it produce a 7th placer in Miss Estefanie S. Vargas, a former Education Honors Program scholar now teaching in Naga Parochial School, but it has an outstanding passing results. The College has achived 85% passing rate in elementary education against a national passing average of 30.469%, and 81% in secondary education against a national passing average of 35.343%.
For the first takers, the passing rate for elementary education and secondary education was 92% and 94% respectively. The College topped all the universities and colleges in Bicol with the next teacher training institution trailing us by 21%.
A total of 129 Jesuit trained teachers who passed the test really brought honor to the school. This is a great achievement of the College of Education in the pursuit of training competent teachers in the basic education.
But all of these are for the greater glory of God!
