AdNU holds Special Mass for Typhoon Frank's Victims

The Ateneo de Naga University community, comprised of administrators, faculty, staff, and students, joined a special Mass offered for the victims of Typhoon Frank last July 4, 2008 at the Christ the King University Church.

As on all First Fridays, the Sacred Heart of Jesus was honored in a distinct manner and upheld as God's symbol of love for us. During his homily, Fr. Joel Tabora , S.J., AdNU's University President, challenged everyone to respond to this love in the aftermath of Typhoon Frank. He further said that this was possible ...by being willing to accept a bit of sacrifice, to take a bit of pain, to share a bit of our treasure, to warm the lives of others in need with the flame of his love.

During the Offertory, gifts, ranging from food to used clothing and sleeping mats, were presented to the altar. These gifts had earlier been solicited from the entire academic community to aid those whose lives were striken by the recent calamity.

The said Eucharistic celebration, which began at 4:30 p.m.,  together with the Sacrifice in Solidarity with Iloilo move spearheaded by the Center for Community Development (CCD) was organized in line with AdNU's continuing commitment to be socially involved and committed in its service to others.
