OUR RESPONSE

The core object of the University’s social involvement is the pursuit of the University’s Mission of service to the community, especially the poor. However, fully cognizant of the fact that the University does not have the capability to respond to each and every development need of its partner communities, the social involvement of the University shall focus on the following priority areas of concern:

The USIC 10-Point Agenda

1. Health and Nutrition:
   ENABLING SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY HEALTH AND NUTRITION STRATEGIES Goal: Accessible and sustainable Health and Nutrition Information and Services for the poor
   
   
2. Environment:
   NURTURING A CULTURE PROTECTIVE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
   Goal: Sustainable environment nurtured by communities protective of the environment and conservative of natural resources
   
   
3. Governance:
   ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY FOR PARTICIPATORY AND ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNANCE
   Goal: a government, both national and local, effectively responding to the needs, and facilitates sustainable development, of the communities; a community living and acting in the challenge that in their own hands lie their destiny and the fate of the nation
   
   
4. Religious Education:
   KNOWING JESUS THE CHRIST
   Goal: A community where Jesus Christ is alive
   
   
5. Livelihood/Entrepreneurship:
   BUILDING ON THE ECONOMIC CAPABILITIES OF COMMUNITIES
   Goal: An environment that facilitates and enables the economic empowerment of both women and men
   
   
6. Teacher Training:
   FACILITATING EFFECTIVE ACCESS TO CONTINUING TEACHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING
   Goal: A community of educators dedicated to and capably delivering a continuously improving quality education in Bicol Region
   
   
7. Disaster Response Management: DISASTER PREVENTION/AVOIDANCE
   Goal: The occurrence of natural phenomena do not result in disasters.
   
   
8. Housing:
   ENGAGING TECHNOLOGY AND INGENUITY IN HOUSING  THE TYPHOON-PRONE BICOL
   Goal: Families living in homes that could withstand the devastation of natural calamities
